Born 1999, Nicole Christodoulou is a mixed media artist whose practice centralises around the physical and digital manipulation of contemporary photography and film. By working with the deconstruction and re-appropriation of familiar scenes, she is able to generate new narrative and challenge our understanding of perception.
In 2019, Christodoulou completed her third and final year at The University of Technology Sydney with a Bachelor of Design in Photography and Situated Media. She is currently working as an Image Editor at Encore Collective, based in Homebush West, NSW.
Heavily influenced by her mothers pursuits in fashion and her fathers constant filming for (previously incessant, now treasured) home videos, she fosters the same enthusiasm towards archiving materials and memories that her parents always have. She now manages the brand development of both her parents businesses, applying self-taught multimedia and marketing skills towards their online and in-store presence. With an interest in popular culture and Hollywood cinema, Christodoulou intends to translate contemporary relationships and personal experiences into her art practice.
Raised in southern Sydney, Australia she attended a Greek-Orthodox primary school where she learnt to speak, read and write the language. Due to this upbringing she developed a much deeper connection toward her heritage, and is compelled to further explore her cultural history and ancestral roots in future works.
